Horse Tack ~ Measuring For the right fit

Bit to bit (red):

If you have a current, fitting headstall, measure from the end of the leather at the bit, up around  behind the ears, and back down to the end of the leather at the bit on the other side.

Browband (purple):

Measure your current browband from the leather fold, over the forehead, to the leather fold on the other side to where the browband ends after passing all other leather straps.

Bit to bit (red):

Measure from one corner of the mouth, over behind the ears and back down to the other corner of the mouth. With this method, subtract 2 inches on each side for the bit, so a total of 4 inches less than the actual measurement (take away more for bits with longer purchases). 

Browband (purple):

Measure from the other side of where the bit to bit line would fall, go over the forehead and back to the same spot on the other side.

Throat latch (green):

Measure around the horse's neck (like a necklace) from right behind the ears around and back to the starting point.

Chest Straps (blue):

Measure from the center of your horse's chest up to where the breast collar attaches to your saddle.

Center Strap (orange):

Measure from the center of your horse's chest down between the front legs to where the strap attaches to the girth.

Headstall sizes are as follows unless otherwise stated on the individual sales.

• Large Draft size:  46" - 56"
• Draft cross/small draft size: 40" - 48"
• Standard Horse Size (m/l): 35" - 43"
• Small Horse Size (s/m):  31" - 39"

We strongly recommend measuring your horse's current headstall, bit to bit, so the size will fit perfectly! If your horse can fit in the smaller size, we suggest going with that one, so the strap ends don't cover so much of the beautiful cheek pieces.

I periodically open up to custom orders and am happy to design a piece for you! Everything made in my shop is designed and crafted by me alone, so I am only able to take on so many new orders at a time. I can do a wide range of colors and styles, so bring your ideas and we'll work together to bring your vision to life!

Draft customs are built to your horse's specifications from scratch. The price will vary depending on the design and style chosen. 

Colors ~ I use Fiebing's Pro Dye and offer the following variety of colors:  chocolate, dark brown (dark oil), mahogany, medium oil, light oil, and black. 

Designs ~ I design and craft each headstall myself. I can recreate a style you might see on my page, or design something completely unique for your horse! Styles, conchos, spots and buckles will vary and change with availability.

I am constantly working on creating new beautiful pieces. I add them as I finish them, so my inventory will frequently change, with new styles, designs and colors!

I make every belt from scratch by hand, so each design can be as completely unique and as personal to you as you like! I can stamp in patterns, or draw and carve intricate designs completely original and done freehand by me. If you can think it up, I can most likely create it!
